Vary, Adam. "'New Moon' banks at box office." CNN.com. 22 Nov 2009. CNN, Web. 23 Nov 2009.
This article tells us how 'New Moon' made a lot of money at the box office this weekend. It made 140.7 million dollars which is a huge increase from the first movie, which made 69.6 million opening weekend. Worldwide it made 258.8 million dollars which is a very large amount. An interesting fact is that 80 percent of those that attended 'New Moon' were women. It goes on to talk about all the other movies that made a splash behind 'New Moon'. Some of these movies are 'Blindside', '2012', and 'Planet 51'.
I think that this article shows how much money the media can pull in. I think 'New Moon' brought in so much money because it was a highly anticipated movie. It had a lot of build up, so people were very excited. The book appeals to women, and that's why I believe 80 percent of those that attended were women; not to mention dazzling Edward, and piece of steak, Jacob Black. I also think it made a lot of money because the budget for this movie was much greater than it's last budget. Therefore, adding in better special affects and action parts.
