'SNL' Can't Resist Tiger Woods Jokes

Press, Associated. "‘SNL’ can’t resist Tiger Woods jokes." MSNBC. 06 Dec 2009. MSNBC, Web. 6 Dec 2009. .

This article talks about how Saturday Night Live (SNL) makes jokes about Tiger Woods and his "transgressions". During Saturday Night Live, they showed one skit where Tiger is interviewed where he is beat up and bruised with his wife standing next to him with a golf club. He says in the interview, "Wow, I've been really clumsy this weekend." Another one line joke that SNL said was, "Last Friday, Tiger Woods hit a tree and a bunch of ladies fell out". There were many jokes made about this professional golfer throughout the past weeks on Saturday Night Live and other media venues.
I think that this article shows how the media can target a high profile celebrity and bash on them so much to switch the views of fans and people looking in from the outside. The media can get into someone's business and broadcast it to the whole world. I think a person held at such high standards in the ranks of the country and the world ought to be more careful and aware about how the media can take their story and blow it up. They should expect it, therefore, if they don't want their stories exposed they should really plan ahead.

  1. Honestly, I think that SNL has the right to make jokes about Tiger Woods because that's their job. If you don't want to be made fun of, or have a story about you exaggerated to the whole nation, then don't do scandalous stuff.

  2. I agree with Ashley, its no secret that the media is hungry for dirt on celebrities. Yeah the media has been nasty to Tiger Woods, and gone probably farthur than they should, but thats life. And karma came around and got him back hard. It truly is incredible how much a celebritie's fame comes from the media-and not from what they have accomplished themselves. I also think its a shame that he'll get more publicity from this than from all of the amazing accomplishments he has made in his life.

  3. I agree, SNL has the right to insult Tiger Woods for being stupid. If he didn't want to be joked about, he shouldn't have been fooling around with other women. It's sad that his secrets had to come out like this, but you can't hide anything forever and because he was such a prominent figure, he fell hard. Hopefully he learns from his "transgressions" and focuses on winning more majors.

  4. Personally I thought the SNL skit was absolutely hilarious. I was in New York when it was taped and i was so dissapointed that I didn't go to the taping. I agree that Saturday Night Live was completely allowed to create the skit and had every right to spoof the entire scandal. Lets be honest about the fact that most everyone in the world who has access to some form of media already knew about Tiger's actions. I do however don't think that it was entirely appropriate to target Tiger's wife during the skit. There has been rumors that Tiger's wife attacked him but either way I don't feel it was fair to jab at a woman who has just been betrayed by her husband in front of the entire world. It is sad that the media is sometimes known for exposing scandals to our planet however, I'm pretty sure that both Tiger and his wife were fully aware, when they married and when these events transpired, that things about there lives would most likely be made very public. I hope that Tiger learns from his mistakes although i'm sure that his family's personal trials would be much easier to handle if they were actually "personal".
