Is Text Messagaing A Viable Media and Advertising Platform?

Karp, Scott. "Is Text Messaging A Viable Media And Advertising Platform For Older Demographics? ." Publishing 2.0. 12/Jun/2007. Publishing 2.0, Web. 18 Oct 2009. .

USA Today is now in partnership with 4INFO, a text message information service. USA Today is doing this to send ads to targeted USA Today readers. Readers can also get updated information on sports, weather, stock, and other types of data. They question if older aged people will engage in text messaging and using this new tool? USA today said "We’re trying to introduce the value proposition of these types of services and how they can be … relevant for someone who’s not 17 years old." The article believes that you can't teach old users new tricks.
I think that text messaging is a great way to use advertise and use the media. Most everyone has a phone, and if not you can send text to land lines with ease. I think that people aging from 18-50 are more likely to be more responsive because they use text messaging much more than people older than 50 in their every day lives. Text messaging is an easy, accessible, and fast way to get information to a lot of people, so why not use it? Advertisers and the media should use this as much as often and as much as the are allowed to do.

How Sticky Is Membership on Facebook? Just Try Breaking Free

Aspin, Maria. "NYTIMES.com." How Sticky Is Membership on Facebook? Just Try Breaking Free - NY TIMES. 11/Mar/2008. New York Times, Web. 11 Oct 2009. .

This Article from the New York Times tells us something about Facebook that not all of us know. When you join Facebook and you want to delete your information, you cannot delete everything all the way. Facebook stores all your information in it's archives even if you deactivate your account. Facebook says the best thing to do is manually delete everything. This includes all your information, wall posts, pictures, ect. Facebook is one of the few websites that do this. Some other social networking sites that allow you to delete your profile and everything inside of it forever include; Myspace, eHarmony.com, and Friendster. They allow users to erase everything completely, why doesn't Facebook?
I think Facebook needs to fix this somehow. This sounds conspicuous and shouldn't be allowed. They should make it easy for users to erase anything. If, they want to erase all of it then they should be allowed to. People deserve this option and I don't understand why Facebook won't allow a simple way to erase a users information. When I say erase it, I mean totally wipe it out from not only the internet, but also Facebook archives.

Comcast Eyes Future in NBC Universal Bid

Press, Associated. " Comcast eyes future in bid for NBC Universal." MSNBC. 02 Oct 2009. MSNBC, Web. 4 Oct 2009. .

This article talks about how Comcast has come up with a plan, which will make them bigger than they are right now. This plan is to buy out NBC Universal. Comcast will pay $4 billion to $6 billion dollars for General Electric Co. shares, therefore, they will own 51 percent of NBC Universal. Some of the things Comcast will receive are NBC network, movie studios, several cable channels. No matter where the show is viewed Comcast will be making an increase in money somehow. This will also make their ratings go up.
I think that is too much power in one company's hands. They will own so much of what is shown on television. This will make them want more and more. They will be gaining so much money that they will, someday, be able to buy out many other companies. I think other companies will have to merge together so there will be competition against this giant.
